A Writing Retreat featuring Dr. Richard Louth
and the New Orleans Writing Marathon Experience
This retreat features:
Tuesday through Thursday, writers will venture out in small groups to eat, drink, and write their way across the city, stopping to share their writing before moving to their next adventure.
Dr. Richard Louth, creator and founder of the New Orleans Writing Marathon, will lead morning
workshops to prepare participants before they embark on daily writing marathons in the French Quarter and beyond.
Whether you come to New Orleans to write about New Orleans, or you end up writing about Michigan, there's something about this city that awakens the writer's spirit. Come experience all that New Orleans has to offer writers, plus enjoy amazing food, delicious cocktails, historical sites, local characters, and great entertainment!
Retreat attendees are invited to submit a marathon piece for possible inclusion in two upcoming publications--an anthology and a radio documentary produced by KSLU.
Spend time with other writers in small groups on the writing marathons, and in larger groups at the morning send-off sessions and nightly cocktail receptions. Hang out with local writers who know the best restaurants, coolest jazz clubs, and hidden gems around the city. Join writers in response groups at the end of the week to hone your craft and fine tune a piece for submission.
